The serialization of Albert Goldman’s controversial biography of slain ex-Beatle John Lennon continues this week in People magazine, with Goldman dropping further surprises along the way. Says Goldman: Lennon was hooked on heroin for years, and he kicked the habit with the help of a sensory-deprivation tank just before going to work on what would prove to be his last album, “Double Fantasy.” Goldman’s book says Yoko Ono was also addicted to the narcotic, but broke free with the help of a physician. Spokesman for Lennon and Ono have denied or downplayed the sensational bits of Goldman’s biography, and Paul McCartney lambasted it last week.
