Lionel Richie was a no-show at a hearing Monday determining possible battery charges against his wife, Brenda Richie, which were filed by the model Mrs. Richie found with her husband June 29, and the District Attorney’s office said Tuesday it will recommend that prosecutors not file criminal charges against Brenda Richie, who did show up. “I’m recommending no further action be taken due to a lack of evidence . . . (and) Mr. Richie’s reluctance to testify against his wife,” said Kay Cuttrell, head of the district attorney’s hearing officer program.
