Dispute Over Stereo Triggers Fatal Shot

Share

A 21-year-old man was shot and killed early Wednesday by a house mate in the Hollywood Hills after he complained that the other man’s stereo was too loud, Los Angeles police said.

An argument ensued when the victim, whose name was withheld until his relatives could be contacted, asked his house mate, Alberto Yandolino, 37, to turn down the stereo, Detective Rick Swanston said. Yandolino pulled out a shotgun at about 4:45 a.m., shot the 21-year-old in the face, and then fled in his car, Swanston said.

Yandolino, a real estate salesman, and the victim, a student at a school for security guards, “couldn’t get along” and had argued previously, Swanston said.

After questioning two other men who live at the house in the 8800 block of Appian Way, police found Yandolino near Hollywood Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue and arrested him on suspicion of murder, Lt. Neil Zachary said. Yandolino was being held without bail.
