A 19-year-old Los Angeles man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a friend whose body was discovered in a trunk in Pasadena, sheriff’s officials said.
The body, found next to a garage on South Michigan Boulevard, was identified as that of Kevin Michael Kiernan, 28, of Los Angeles, Deputy Richard Dinsmoor said.
William Cockerham, 19, of Los Angeles was arrested in connection with the murder and was being held without bail, Dinsmoor said.
The incident began Aug. 11, police said, when Kiernan began acting irrationally and breaking up furniture at his home. Cockerham allegedly restrained Kiernan by handcuffing and gagging him, then placing him in a trunk.
Cockerham left the apartment for a few hours, and when he returned, he found Kiernan had died, Dinsmoor said.
“He panicked, drove the trunk to Pasadena and left it in the alley,” Dinsmoor said.
The cause of Kiernan’s death has not been determined.
