Kings Will See Fans They Never Knew They Had
So the Kings went out and got Wayne Gretzky. And now there are thousands of “fans” of the Kings in Los Angeles, all expecting Gretzky to bring L.A. the Stanley Cup.
Well these new “fans” are going to be sorry after they realize that the Kings got taken, just as Mike Downey wrote (Aug. 10).
What’s Gretzky going to do, play goalie? Or maybe he will become a defenseman. The Kings already had their Gretzky of the future in Jimmy Carson. But they decided to trade him away so that they could get a center who will probably play for three more years, instead of 15.
So long, Jimmy. You’ll be missed, especially after No. 99 retires.
