A slimmed-down William “The Refrigerator” Perry rejoined the Chicago Bears after 28 days in an eating-disorder treatment program.
The defensive lineman left the team July 22, enrolling in the weight-control program to lose an estimated 40 pounds, and missed all of the Bears’ training camp at Platteville, Wis.
The team wouldn’t release Perry’s weight, but he appeared much slimmer than when he reported to training camp July 22 weighing 358 pounds, according to the team.
Coach Mike Ditka said Perry is still the team’s starting left defensive end. Perry will travel with the team to Dallas for tonight’s preseason game against the Cowboys and will start Friday night’s preseason match against the Raiders.
