Government agents say they found three tons of marijuana aboard a trawler, bristling with electronic gear, that was towed into Monterey Harbor. Two men were arrested. Seizure of the vessel--the 50-foot Pyrgos, based in Alameda--came after the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department received an anonymous tip that contraband was being landed at Red White and Blue Beach, five miles north of Santa Cruz, by small boats shuttling from a large vessel offshore. The pot that was grabbed was valued at $3 million, according to Drug Enforcement Administration agent Gregory Lee. He said the cargo may have originated in Thailand and was labeled “Golden Dragon.”
