Psychiatric Ward Rape Investigated

OAKLAND —
An investigation is under way into a case at Highland Hospital’s psychiatric ward in which one patient allegedly raped another who was strapped to a bed in a room that should have been locked.
Angry Alameda County supervisors said they also wanted to know why hospital administrators failed to inform the victim’s mother of the assault.
