Former National Basketball Assn. Coach George Karl was hired to replace Bill Musselman as the coach of the defending Continental Basketball Assn. champion Albany Patroons, team officials said.
Karl, who resigned March 23 as coach of the Golden State Warriors with the team floundering at a 16-48 record, is a former two-time CBA Coach of the Year. He had a 90-42 record with the Montana Golden Nuggets from 1980 to 1983 before being hired to coach the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA.
