Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Teen-Ager Arrested on Hit-and-Run Charge
A 17-year-old Huntington Beach boy was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run Friday after a teen-ager riding in the back of the youth’s truck lost his balance on a turn and fell out on his head, authorities said.
Huntington Beach Police Lt. Charles Poe said the driver apparently “got scared” after the accident and left the scene. Investigators tracked the youngster to his home and arrested him. He was later released to his parents.
Poe said the 13-year-old victim was in grave condition at the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
Officers said the accident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. when the driver was making a left turn from Edgeview Lane onto Glenwood Drive.
Police withheld the names of the driver and victim because they are juveniles.
