Local News in Brief : Teen-Ager Killed in Fight Over Bicycle
A teen-ager was killed outside a pizza parlor in South-Central Los Angeles on Monday after he and a friend attempted to take a bicycle from a third youngster, police said.
An unidentified boy of about 14 entered the carry-out restaurant in the 4500 block of West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at 5:20 p.m., leaving his bicycle padlocked outside, witnesses said.
Two other boys, about the same age, came into the restaurant and demanded the bike, witnesses said. The three youngsters argued before the youth who owned the bike pulled a handgun and shot one of the boys who accosted him, witnesses said. The second boy fled on foot.
The youngster who owned the bike rode off, witnesses said. Police are looking for both boys. The wounded teen-ager died at Brotman Memorial Hospital, police said.
