The No. 5 UCLA women’s volleyball team (4-0), which won the Rainbow Tournament at the University of Hawaii last weekend, will begin Pacific 10 Conference play at No. 4 Stanford, defending conference champion, on Friday and at California on Saturday.

The Bruins should move up in the rankings after the way they played in Hawaii. UCLA defeated No. 2 Illinois in five games, top-ranked and defending NCAA champion Hawaii in four and Pepperdine in three. In the final game against the Rainbows, the Bruins won, 15-0, shutting out Hawaii for the first time in the Rainbows’ history.

UCLA senior setter Ann Boyer was named the tournament’s most valuable player, and her teammates, junior middle blocker Daiva Tomkus and sophomore outside hitter Samantha Shaver, were named to the all-tourney team.
