In the final minutes, Colorado found a quarterback and pulled out a victory.

Sal Aunese drove the Buffaloes 85 yards to his second touchdown of the game with 5 1/2 minutes left at Iowa City, Iowa, upsetting No. 19 Iowa, 24-21, Saturday.

“Obviously, to come back and put a drive like that together and get the victory is tremendous testimony to the resolve, poise and leadership we had out there,” said Colorado Coach Bill McCartney, who is trying to decide on a starting quarterback among Aunese, Marc Walters and Darian Hagen before the start of Big 8 Conference play.

“I thought Sal showed a lot of poise in the last drive. I thought our coaches put together a good sprinkling (of plays) that allowed us to move the ball and keep them a little off balance to get down the field.”
