Local News in Brief : South County : Custodian Arrested as School Arson Suspect
Orange County Fire Department investigators accompanied by Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a former custodian of the Kiddy Konnection preschool in El Toro as a suspect in two arson fires there in June, officials said.
Jan James Sanders, 44, of Mission Viejo was arrested Sept. 14 and booked into Orange County Jail in connection with two arson fires June 19 and 20 that caused an estimated $153,300 in damage at the preschool.
The fires occurred within 11 hours of each other, causing mostly smoke damage, officials said. The school, which serves preschoolers from 2 to 5 years old, has reopened.
