Share

Sister Ann M. Durst, a lawyer and a nun in the Society of the Holy Child of Jesus, has been chosen to head the Mayfield Senior School, a private Catholic preparatory school for girls.

Her professional life began in 1961 as a school principal in Rye, N.Y., and she continued to head and teach in schools until devoting her work to law in 1980. Sister Ann specialized in education and immigrant issues as a lawyer.

Peter Tamny, chairman of Mayfield’s board of trustees, said Sister Ann will head a faculty of 35 in the 252-student school. She succeeds James M. McManus, now headmaster of the Castilleja School in Palo Alto.
