Local News in Brief : Garden Grove : Police Believe Pregnant Woman Was Murdered
A pregnant 28-year-old woman was found dead in her home Friday morning by a neighbor, and police investigators suspect that she was murdered, authorities said.
Police Lt. David Abrecht said the bloody body of Vicki Mesa was discovered by the neighbor at 9:50 a.m. at the victim’s home in the 10700 block of Mallard Drive.
A family friend, who asked not to be identified, said the victim was five months’ pregnant with her first child. He said her husband, Mike Mesa, had called his wife Friday morning from his job at a trucking company. When no one answered the telephone, Mike Mesa called the neighbor to check on his wife, Hernandez said.
Abrecht said investigators were still at the Mesa home Friday night searching for evidence. A cause of death, however, had not yet been positively determined, he said.
“We’re calling it murder. But at this point, we don’t know exactly how she died,” Abrecht said.
But the family friend said the woman apparently had been stabbed.
Abrecht said that police have no suspects.
