Former world heavyweight champion Leon Spinks pleaded no contest in Rochester Hills, Mich., to a charge of driving while impaired. No sentencing date was set.

Spinks, who won the heavyweight title in February 1978 with a 15-round decision over Muhammad Ali, was stopped by police as he drove out of a parking lot April 24. A blood test showed Spinks’ blood-alcohol level was 0.21%. Under state law, a blood-alcohol level of 0.10% is considered intoxicated.

Spinks faces a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $300, in addition to court costs and the loss of his license for 90 days to 1 year.
