The Detroit Lions signed former Raider quarterback Rusty Hilger to a 1-year contract as a replacement for the injured Eric Hipple.
Hilger started 5 games with the Raiders last year but was released in the exhibition season this year. He has been training near his home in Manhattan Beach while hoping to hear from an NFL team.
Hipple broke his left ankle in Sunday’s 20-13 loss to San Francisco and underwent surgery.
