Local News in Brief : L.A. Council OKs Culver City Suit

Share

The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved the filing of a lawsuit to block development of the massive Marina Place shopping center in Culver City because of the traffic congestion it might create.

At the request of Councilwoman Ruth Galanter, who represents the Los Angeles neighborhoods near the proposed development, the city attorney’s office sued Culver City on Sept. 29 in an attempt to force that city and the developers of Marina Place to scale back the proposed 1 million-square-foot regional shopping center.

Although the suit has already been filed, the Los Angeles council could have made the city attorney withdraw the action.

Galanter has agreed to meet with the developers and try to negotiate changes in the project.
