Local News in Brief : Marriage Raises Issue of Conflict of Interest
Burbank City Atty. Douglas C. Holland said Thursday he will seek to determine if the marriage of a Burbank Community Development official and a prominent developer pose any conflicts of interest.
Holland said he did not see any conflict in the marriage of Redevelopment Department Manager Susan Boyle and developer Victor Georgino. He said Boyle already had removed herself from decisions regarding projects that involve Georgino.
Georgino and Boyle were married last week.
Georgino is a developer of the AMC multiscreeen cinema in downtown Burbank.
State Fair Political Practices Commission guidelines stipulate that officials such as Boyle cannot make decisions that affect property within 300 feet of other property in which they have an interest.
Holland said he will ask the commission for guidance on what projects Boyle can make decisions.
