Robbery Suspect Held After Chase
A robbery suspect who led police on a high-speed chase through La Palma and Buena Park was arrested Saturday night after he abandoned his car on a residential side street and tried to outrun officers, police said.
La Palma police were responding to a 6:58 p.m. call of a robbery at the Denny’s Restaurant at 6901 Walker St. when an officer saw a car matching the description of the getaway vehicle, police said.
Sgt. Jim Wells tried to pull the car over on Orangethorpe Avenue but it sped onto the eastbound Riverside Freeway, police said. With Wells and two other La Palma patrol units in pursuit, the suspect exited the freeway in Buena Park, where more police joined the chase.
After leading police at high speeds down several residential side streets, the suspect abandoned his car and ran.
