A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was critically injured Saturday afternoon when a pickup truck driving on the wrong side of the road crashed head-on into the cycle near Westlake Village, authorities said.

Two other people suffered minor injuries in the 3:15 p.m. crash on Kanan Dume Road. John Grese, 46, of Sherman Oaks was driving north in the southbound lane, said Officer Andy Gutierrez of the California Highway Patrol. As he came around a long curve, Grese plowed head-on into the motorcycle, Gutierrez said.

The motorcycle’s driver, a 25-year-old Marina Del Rey man, died at the scene, Gutierrez said. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives. His passenger, Dayna Moldover, 23, of Huntington Valley, Pa. was in critical condition Sunday afternoon at Westlake Community Hospital. Both were wearing helmets, Gutierrez said.
