Cheers for Injury Were Painful to Hear
Being a fan of sport, I enjoyed the competition provided by the best athletes. When a player is injured, regardless of the team, I never rejoice.
After listening to the chorus of cheers from the New York Mets’ fans after Kirk Gibson’s injury in Game 5 of the National League playoffs, I have become a New York anti-fan. The anti-fan harbors no contempt toward athletes from opposing teams, just their fans.
