2 Sheriff’s Deputies Injured Quelling Fracas in Santee

Two San Diego County deputy sheriffs were injured when a fight broke out Friday night as they attempted to arrest a group of people in Santee.

The officers were identified as Deputy Rudy Quinones, who suffered injuries to his arms and legs, and Sgt. Gordon Brook, who injured a hand.

Drug Use Suspected

Sheriff’s officials said Quinones was questioning a motorist about 9:40 p.m. in the 9100 block of Fanita Rancho Road when he noticed that a passenger in the car appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

As he began to arrest the passenger, several of her friends came out of a nearby house and threatened the deputy, a fight began and back-up deputies were requested, official said.

More deputies arrived, and a group of people were arrested both inside the house and after they were found hiding in the neighborhood. Deputies said they found numerous guns in the house, which were seized as possible illegal weapons.

Those arrested were:

Patricia K. Miller, 25, of Santee on suspicion of battery on a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine, and being under the influence of narcotics; Diane Marrokal, 22, of Santee on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs; Donna J. Hughey, 36, of El Cajon on suspicion of threatening a peace officer; Terry J. Lee, 37, of Santee on suspicion of threatening a peace officer and on $10,000 in outstanding arrest warrants, and Sandra L. Nygaard, 30, of Santee on suspicion of threatening a peace officer.
