New Mexico scored the first touchdown, Wyoming got the next 8.

The 14th-ranked Cowboys won their 16th consecutive regular-season game Saturday by overwhelming the Lobos, 55-7, in a Western Athletic Conference game at Laramie, Wyo.

“Maybe it was good for our ballclub to have the Lobos score right off the bat,” Wyoming Coach Paul Roach said. “Once we got going, I thought we did a fine job of maintaining our intensity against a program that has been having problems. We certainly were worried about that.”

Dabby Dawson rushed for 179 yards and a 13-yard touchdown run, and defensive end Dave Edeen returned an interception 78 yards for a touchdown for Wyoming (7-0 overall and 4-0 in the WAC).
