‘Crossing the Line’
The agent was totally out of bounds, if not good taste, when he decided to pursue and conduct a search for illegal aliens during Mass at La Purisima Catholic Church.
Although totally within legal bounds, this action smacks of the totalitarianism that we Americans abhor. If this incident had taken place in Russia the media most certainly would have denounced the intrusion as another example of the freedomless situations running rampant in a communist state.
It is a sad state of affairs when the sanctity of an embassy is considered to be more binding than that of a place of worship.
