Local News in Brief : City Manager Fires Councilman’s Son
The city manager of Compton on Monday fired Redevelopment Director Laurence H. Adams, who is a son of influential City Councilman Robert L. Adams Sr.
City Manager James Goins--who appointed Adams to the powerful post in June, 1987--could not be reached for comment.
But the younger Adams said he was told that he had failed to provide some information that Goins had requested on a shopping center project proposed by CWK Development Co. Councilman Adams said he was not consulted before the firing. The redevelopment director serves at the pleasure of the city manager.
