For UCLA, this weekend’s UCLA-Metropolitan Life soccer tournament couldn’t be coming at a better time.
Since losing their first three games, the Bruins have gone 8-1-1 and have shut out their last four opponents.
The Bruins are scheduled to play Navy today at 2 p.m., after a noon matchup between San Diego State, ranked sixth nationally and second in the Far West Region, and South Carolina.
All games will be played at UCLA’s North Field.
The Bruins, led on offense by junior forward Bill Thompson’s 8 goals and 8 assists, are ranked fifth in the Far West. Since UCLA lost to top-ranked Virginia Sept. 9, goalkeeper Anton Nistl has allowed just 3 goals in 984 minutes.
Sunday’s second-round pairings pit San Diego State against Navy at noon and UCLA against South Carolina at 2 p.m.
