Country singer Waylon Jennings was “doing fine” Tuesday after being admitted to the intensive-care unit at Tustin Community Hospital on Monday night, when he apparently suffered heart-related trouble between shows at the Crazy Horse Steak House in Santa Ana.

Jennings’ diagnosis was not released, but “it was not a heart attack,” according to Crazy Horse owner Fred Reiser, who said a cardiologist told him that Jennings had “a stress-related ailment. He (the cardiologist) indicated that if the stress-related ailment would have continued, it could have caused a heart attack.”

Jennings, 51, remained in the intensive-care unit for testing Tuesday and was reported in good condition. “He’s doing fine,” said Alice Swope, hospital nursing supervisor. His publicist said Jennings would resume performing Nov. 6.

After the first of two scheduled shows Monday, Jennings’ manager told Reiser that the singer was feeling weak and light-headed. Reiser said he called paramedics, who couldn’t find anything wrong after administering an electrocardiogram. The paramedics took Jennings to the hospital for more tests. Monday’s late show and two shows scheduled for Tuesday were canceled. Jennings “was very upset about having to cancel the shows,” said Reiser. “He seemed more concerned about his career than his personal health. I think this will be a sign for him to slow down a little.”
