ZURICH, Switzerland — Swiss ski ace Pirmin Zurbriggen became engaged to Moni Julen, his girlfriend of two years, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
Zurbriggen, 25, the 1988 Olympic downhill champion and a three-time World Cup winner, exchanged rings with his 21-year-old fiancee at a family-only ceremony, the mass-circulation Blick daily said.
They gathered recently at a hotel in Stalden, located at the head of two Swiss Alps valleys in which the couple’s home towns of Saas Almagell and Zermatt are located.
Blick did not say when the ceremony took place.
Zurbriggen says “there is still time” before thinking of marriage, according to Blick. He has said he will get married only after ending his ski career.
