Local News in Brief : Housing Authority Guard Shot to Death
A Los Angeles Housing Authority security guard--unarmed and in civilian clothes--was shot to death in an ambush in the courtyard of the Inglewood apartment house where he lived, police said Wednesday.
Dennis Reddick, 32, was wounded in the head Tuesday night and died at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, according to Inglewood Police Sgt. Harold Moret. Detectives have not discovered a motive for the shooting, he said.
Reddick was walking to his apartment in the 10900 block of Crenshaw Boulevard when he was shot, Moret said. Reddick had been a city security guard since 1983, according to Housing Authority Police Lt. Willie Thompson. He was assigned to a post at the Los Angeles City Hall Annex in Watts.
