I wish to trumpet a little-known academic accomplishment.
Quoting from U.S. News & World Report (Oct. 10), our UCLA is the only school to be rated in the top 25 best universities--as No. 21--and at the same time in the top 10 in football.
We all give credit to coach Terry Donahue for his brilliant work to bring national acclaim to the Bruin football team. Now it is time to extend the same acclaim to Chancellor Charles E. Young for his achievement in raising UCLA to such an elevated academic level.
Interesting that football makes so many headlines and so much publicity, while the academic pinnacle goes unnoticed.
