Regular jockeys at Aqueduct race track in New York agreed to end their 13-day strike after settling a dispute over riding fees.

A spokesman for the Jockeys’ Guild said 12 of the jockeys had already lined up mounts for today’s races. Guild director John Giovanni said the jockeys were pleased with the agreement, which will give them higher fees for second- and third-place finishes.

Under the new system, riders and owners must agree on a fee schedule for each race. The fee agreement must then be submitted to the New York Racing Assn.

The Jockeys’ Guild said the regular New York riders have agreed only to accept the fee schedule recommended by the National Assn. of State Racing Commissioners--10% of the purse for a winning jockey, 5% for second and 5% for third.
