College Roundup : UCI Women Beat Chapman in Soccer

UC Irvine beat Chapman, 1-0, in a nonconference women’s soccer match at Chapman Saturday.

Michelle Braceros scored with 3:32 left in the first half to give the Anteaters (5-12-5) the victory. Chapman finishes its season 8-10-3.

In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s soccer:

Cal State Northridge 3, Chapman 0--Scott Piri, Keith Martin and Scott Hunter all scored first-half goals to lead visiting Northridge (14-7-0 overall, 8-2-0 in conference play). Chapman finishes the season 7-14-0 and 1-9-0.

In the Air Force women’s volleyball tournament:

Chapman lost to West Texas State, 15-7, 12-15, 15-5, 13-15, 15-3 then came back to defeat Angelo State, 15-13, 15-5, 17-15, later in the day.

Chapman (22-14 overall, ranked 15th) will face Metropolitan State Sunday at 8 a.m. (PST) in a ninth-place semifinal.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--Visiting Cal Poly swept Fullerton, 15-10, 15-6, 15-5, despite 10 kills by Titan Susan Herman. Fullerton falls to 0-14.
