If World War II doesn’t intrigue you, CBS has an alternative in a comedy-Western that it will air Nov. 13 opposite the opening installment of ABC’s mammoth “War and Remembrance.” It’s called “Where the Hell’s That Gold?!!?” and stars Willie Nelson, Delta Burke, Jack Elam, Gerald McRaney, Alfonso Arau and Gregory Sierra. Nelson and Elam play outlaws who are trying to find a cache of stolen gold.

Robert Conrad and Jennifer O’Neill are cast as husband and wife in “Glory Days,” a TV movie for CBS. Conrad, who also is directing the film for his production company, plays a retired executive who, according to CBS, “returns to college to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing football.” Conrad’s real-life son Shane co-stars as his reel-life son.

Lewis H. Lapham, editor of Harper’s Magazine, will host a new series for public television in January called “Bookmark.” Each week it will bring in the author of a new book and a panel of other writers and critics to discuss the work. “ ‘Bookmark,’ ” Lapham says, “is designed to excite in the television audience an appreciation for the play of ideas and the uses of reading.” The show will cover a wide range of subject matter, from novels to history, politics and culture.

Michael Nouri has the title role in “The Charlie Wedemyer Story,” a docudrama for CBS about a dedicated football coach who continued to run his team with his wife’s help after contracting Lou Gehrig’s Disease, which left him unable to speak and confined to a wheelchair. Pam Dawber has been cast as his wife.

Shelley Hack, Sela Ward, Stephanie Faracy and Brooke Adams will play “Bridesmaids” in a TV movie for CBS. They are best friends who haven’t seen each other in five years until they gather for another woman’s wedding.
