Local News in Brief : Mulholland Speeds to Be Monitored by Radar

Share

Los Angeles County supervisors Tuesday approved the use of radar to enforce speed laws along Mulholland Highway through the Agoura area.

The action was requested by Supervisor Mike Antonovich in response to a high number of injury accidents involving motorcyclists exceeding the 45-m.p.h. speed limit on the winding mountain road.

The accident rate for Mulholland between Kanan and Las Virgenes roads is “two to four times greater than the Los Angeles County rate for similar type roads,” said a spokesman for the county Public Works Department. About 70% of the accidents on that stretch involve motorcyclists.

Radar will begin as soon as the California Highway Patrol obtains the equipment, a county spokesman said.
