Ray Barefield, a 6-foot 1-inch point guard from Hoover High School in Fresno, said Sunday that he has decided to attend San Diego State.

Barefield said he will sign a national letter of intent with the Aztecs before the early-signing period ends Wednesday.

Barefield, who helped lead Hoover to a 27-2 record last season, took his only other official visit to UCLA. He said he selected SDSU because of Coach Jim Brandenburg and his interest in returning to the San Diego area. He attended junior high school in La Mesa.
