Local News in Brief : New City Manager Forced to Resign

Share

A three-member majority on the Lawndale City Council has forced the resignation of the city manager, who had been with the city less than six months.

Daniel P. Joseph, 38, ran afoul of the council in August by attempting to oust Planning Director Jim Arnold, even though Arnold had the backing of the council majority--Harold E. Hofmann, Larry Rudolph and Dan McKenzie.

Mayor Sarann Kruse and Carol Norman, who are often overruled by the council majority, walked out of the meeting Thursday night in an unsuccessful attempt to head off a closed-door session on Joseph’s job performance. The three councilmen met without Kruse and Norman and announced at 1 a.m. Friday that Joseph had resigned.

Arnold was appointed interim city manager.
