Cynthia Grennan, superintendent of the Anaheim Union High School District, has been named by the Assn. of California School Administrators as its statewide nominee for the 1989 National Superintendent of the Year Award.

Each year the American Assn. of School Administrators picks an outstanding school executive for the national award. Each state association nominates one person. The 1989 winner will be named during the national convention of the American Assn. of School Administrators in March in Orlando, Fla.

The California association said it nominated Grennan because it found her outstanding in “leadership for learning, communication skills, professionalism and community involvement.”

Glen C. Newman, superintendent of the Menifee Union School District and a member of the screening committee that picked the California nominee, said that Grennan was the committee’s unanimous choice. Newman said it “was really a pleasure . . . to see the kind of work that (Grennan) had accomplished over the year.”
