Local News in Brief : Father Arrested in Infant Son’s Death
A Harbor City man who allegedly beat his 2-month-old son to death has been arrested on suspicion of murder, authorities said Monday.
Artemio Figueroa-Vasquez, 23, was arrested Friday night on suspicion of child abuse after officials at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center told police that they were treating a severely beaten infant boy, Sgt. Roger Magnuson said.
The boy, who was brought to the hospital by his mother, was kept alive on life-support systems for several hours but later died, Magnuson said.
Detectives said they had no motive for the slaying.
