Share

The Lawndale City Council has tentatively approved an ordinance governing the sale of July 4 fireworks.

The ordinance, expected to receive final approval Dec. 1, says that an organization can qualify for a fireworks booth only if it meets one of two requirements: At least 30% of members must live or work in Lawndale, or the group must have been active in Lawndale for five years or more.

The ordinance will increase the number of permitted sales booths from six to eight; half will be designated for youth groups, and the other four will be for organizations that offer other community services.
