Bail was set at $1 million Friday for a 25-year-old man charged with three counts of attempted murder in Tuesday’s drive-by shooting on a downtown street corner.

Rolando Rosario Ignacio of Encanto pleaded innocent of the charges and Municipal Judge H. Ronald Domnitz set the bail. A bail review will be held Wednesday and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9.

Ignacio is being held in connection with the shootings at 4th Avenue and Market Street. Wounded in the attack were Robert Mengar, 59; his fiancee, Cynthia Conyiers, 37, both of whom had just left a Lions Club luncheon, and Susan Snyder, 29, owner of the Gaslamp Quarter art gallery.

Mengar and Snyder were each shot in the leg, and Conyiers was wounded in the left calf, thigh, wrist and buttocks.

According to police, the gun used in the shootings was purchased by Ignacio hours before the attack. No motive has been established for the shooting, for which Ignacio is also charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
