A Canoga Park man has confessed that he killed his fiancee during an argument about money and honeymoon plans, Los Angeles police said Wednesday.

Eric Michael Lewis, 33, of Canoga Park was arrested on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail at the Van Nuys Jail, police said.

Lewis was taken into custody Tuesday night, several hours after Beverly Jordan, 30, was found shot to death in her car in the 22000 block of Santa Susana Pass Road in Chatsworth, police said.

Lt. Harvie Eubank said Lewis and Jordan, who had lived together since April and were planning to marry in January, drove separate vehicles to Santa Susana Pass Road on Tuesday. They had arranged to meet there so they could travel in one car to look at nearby condominiums for sale.

Jordan parked her car on the side of the road and rode in Lewis’ pickup truck, Eubank said. Afterward, as the two traveled back to the parked car, they argued about bills they had not paid and Lewis’ failure to complete arrangements for their honeymoon trip to Hawaii, Eubank said.

When Jordan got back into her car, Lewis followed with a handgun he kept under the seat of his pickup, Eubank said. The argument continued, and he shot Jordan to death, Eubank said.

Lewis confessed that he killed the woman when investigators confronted him with evidence from the slaying, Eubank said.
