3.1 Earthquake Strikes Malibu

An earthquake measuring 3.1 on a composite scale struck the Malibu coastline today, but there were no reports of damage or injuries. The temblor struck 6 miles southeast of Malibu at 11:11 a.m. It was felt in Malibu and West Los Angeles, said Robert Finn, a spokesman for the Caltech Seismology Laboratory in Pasadena. Sgt. James Kagy at the Malibu sheriff’s station said no reports of damage or injuries were received.
