Cerritos : New ABC Board President
In its annual reorganization, the ABC Unified School District Board of Education has elected Barbara Goul Owens president of the 7-member board.
Owens, who is serving her first 4-year term, replaces Catherine Grant. Owens was elected in November, 1985.
Board member Jim Weisenberger was elected vice president and Robert Hughlett was elected clerk.
In other action, the board voted to increase the amount of compensation members receive each meeting from $100 to $150. The board also stipulated that the total amount cannot exceed $600 a month. By state law, the maximum limit for ABC is $750.
Under state law, the compensation limit is tied to the average daily attendance in the district for 1982-83. The larger the school district, the higher the compensation a school board is permitted.
