A Redlands pediatrician found beaten and shot more than three weeks after he disappeared said Wednesday he has no recollection about what happened to him, police said.

Dr. Robert McCormick, 49, was found in an isolated industrial area early Tuesday. He was placed under intensive care at a Phoenix hospital after surgery for head and abdominal wounds, but Glendale police spokesman Marshall Downen said he had improved and probably would be placed in a regular room today.

Downen said McCormick was in good enough condition to be interviewed by Glendale and Redlands police on Wednesday. But could not give them much information.

“He can recall about three hours before he apparently became missing, but he has no recollection (after that) until he awoke at the hospital in Phoenix,” Downen said. “We had been hoping he could fill in some information and gaps for us.”

Downen said police have no idea where McCormick has been, saying, “We haven’t ruled out anything.”

McCormick was reported missing Nov. 14, after a colleague reported a burglary at the pediatrician’s office.
