Rolling Hills 99, El Segundo 44--Guard Mark Tesar scored a game-high 22 points and forward John Hardy added 21 to lead five Rolling Hills players in double figures as the Titans (2-0) cruised to an win in the quarterfinals of the Pacific Shores Tournament at Mira Costa.

Rolling Hills came within one point of scoring 100 points for the first time in Cliff Warren’s four years as coach on a free throw by reserve guard Phil Kuo, but El Segundo (2-3) stalled the last 1:31 to prevent the Titans from hitting the century mark.

It was the second straight runaway win for Rolling Hills, which opened the tournament Tuesday with a 84-58 victory over Culver City.

Bishop Montgomery 61, San Pedro 52--The Knights surged ahead in the fourth quarter to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket at Redondo. Bishop Montgomery broke a 40-40 tie by scoring 8 straight points. Darrell Daniels paced Bishop Montgomery (3-2) with 17 points, Joe Magyar had 15 and Jesus Perez contributed 11.

Willie Sanchez led San Pedro (2-2) with 16 points.

South Torrance 61, Palos Verdes 54--Lance Holmes scored 25 points and Brian Diederich added 22 to lead the Spartans (1-1) in the consolation quarterfinals at Redondo. Palos Verdes, which on Tuesday lost its first season opener in Coach John Mihaljevich’s 26-year tenure, fell to 0-2. Andy Jacobsen scored 17 points for the Sea Kings.

St. Bernard 119, Morningside JV 63--The top-seeded Vikings (2-0) opened a 19-0 lead and forced 23 Monarch turnovers on their way to a quarterfinal win at Redondo. Six St. Bernard players scored in double figures. Forward Terrell Steen led with 20 points, followed by Juno Armstrong with 18.

West Torrance 55, North Torrance 34--Center Sean McCray scored 14 points and forward Ken Faulkner added 12 to lead the Warriors (1-1) in the consolation quarterfinals of the Pacific Shores Tournament. Sophomore guard Brian Jurado paced North (0-2) with 12.

Culver City 70, Mira Costa 66--Mira Costa’s Craig Adamole hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime, but Culver City outscored the Mustangs, 8-4, in the extra period to win the consolation quarterfinal game at Mira Costa.

Guard David Townsend led Mira Costa (1-2) with 18 points.
