One Marine was killed and another injured when their 5-ton communications truck overturned Wednesday during training, a Camp Pendleton spokesman said.
Lance Cpl. Jamie L. Gallo, 21, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was killed when the truck he was driving rolled over on Horno Ridge about 9 p.m. en route to set up a communications site, said Staff Sgt. John Midgette.
The other Marine, Cpl. Robert B. Smith, 23, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was taken to the base hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, Midgette said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, Midgette said.
