Survive took the lead near the sixteenth pole and drew off for a 1 3/4-length victory over Young Flyer, ridden by Laffit Pincay, in the feature race. Trained by owner John Coffee and ridden by Russell Baze, the 4-year-old California-bred covered the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16 3/5 through a driving rain for his first victory in nine starts this year, paying $33 to win.
