EMI: Talk about an improbable career triumph. Last year Bobby McFerrin was a jazz vocalist best known for his 501 Jeans ads. Be Happy.” EMI had an even bigger seller--Richard Marx, who landed a double platinum album and four Top 5 singles. Robert Palmer also scored another platinum album (after EMI lured him away from Island) but the Pet Shop Boys “Introspective” album is off to a slow start.
